Judith Ann Lindquist, age 77, of Gering, NE died 5/10/21 at home with family by her side. A private family celebration will be held at a later date, per her request. The family appreciates all gestures, and encourages memorials in Judy’s honor be made in care of West Nebraska Arts Center in Scottsbluff, NE.

Judy was born on 10/28/43 in Scottsbluff, NE to Edward and Evelyn Louise (Joder) Betz, and received her education through Scottsbluff public schools. Judy married Larry Lindquist on 9/2/62 at Salem Congregational Church and they made their home in Rapid City, SD before settling in Columbus, NE. Larry and Judy owned and operated Craft Village, an art, craft, and decorating business, for 32 years. Larry and Judy spent many retirement years in North Dakota, where they enjoyed the outdoors and Judy remained active with her art, then returned to Gering, NE to be close to family. They filled their lives with love and laughter in their 58 years together.

Judy traveled and taught throughout her life. Her talents included oil painting, floral arranging, candy making, paper crafts, calligraphy, and home decorating. Judy was a member of the National Society of Decorative Painters, The Omaha Guild of Decorative Artists, and a Helping Artist for Deco-Art. She was also an Accredited Ann Kingslan M.D.A. teacher, certified by the National Society of Decorative Painters, published 3 books containing her work, and wrote numerous articles for newspapers and magazines. Judy was also involved in art clubs wherever she lived, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Judy was invited to teach throughout her career and her work has been displayed in the Smithsonian Institute, The White House in Washington, D.C., the Blair House, Nebraska Governor’s Mansion, and various art galleries. Her work is also displayed in private collections in homes and businesses, and enjoyed in the homes of all her family. Judy’s love for art was contagious and she created generations of creative people, leaving her mark wherever she went.

Survivors include: Husband Larry Lindquist, Son Todd (Jean) and Grandchildren Collin (Kelsey), Kyle, Kayla (Connor). Son Troy (Melissa) and Grandchildren Madison, McKibben, Nolan (Sarah), Zoe, Weston, Alexander, Skyler. Son Tony (Edward Brooks). Brother Rob Betz, Sisters Jan Cortinas (John), Shelly Meisner (Jerald), Lori Littell (Mark Futch), and sister-in-law Nina Betz, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Don Betz, sisters Bonnie Ziemann and Carol Betz, and brother-in-law Richard Littell.
