A private burial for family will be held Tuesday afternoon at West Lawn Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Hope Lodge – Omaha or Gering Public Schools. Hope Lodge was her home away from home while receiving cancer treatment and she was an avid supporter of her kids and grandkids throughout their years of numerous sporting events at Gering schools.

Joy was born on March 23, 1955 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Ray and Lucille Haun (Knaub). She graduated from Gering High School in 1973 and furthered her education at Kearney State College. Joy then became a loving mother to three children in her marriage to Ray Ernst. She stayed home with her children and later went to work for Gering Public Schools. Joy was then remarried to Kirk Arnold her late husband of 27 years.

Grandma Joy was a selfless and loving mother, grandmother, and aunt to many and loved to spend her time at the golf course either playing or working. Her time off of the course was also spent gardening, which was a love passed down from her father. She wore the proud title of grandma and would travel near and far to support her children and grandchildren. She always put everyone before herself and knew how to make anyone laugh and smile.

She is survived by her children Andrea Ray (Matthew), Brad Ernst (Brianne), Cory Ernst (Brittany); grandchildren Turner, Maddie, Ryland, and Tatum Ray and Ellis and Finnly Ernst; Siblings Karen Bolzer, Sandy Gable, Allen (Mary Kay) Haun; and step children Matthew, Cody, Tyler, Tyson, Katie (Van Sicklen) Arnold.

Joy was preceded in Death by her parents, husband, and brothers-in-law Ron Bolzer and Don Gable.
