Janice LaVere Stearley Wolf
Cremation has taken place per her wishes. Internment will be at West Lawn Cemetery, Gering Nebraska. Honorary pallbearers: Douglas Wolf, Trevor Hinkle, Shawn Hinkle, Jason Hinkle, Mark Bartlett and John Bartlett.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 24, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Hampton Inn with a lunch following. There will be no gravesite services.
Janice was born in Gering, Nebraska attending Gering Valley and graduated from Gering High School 1950. She married LeRoy Bartlett and had 3 children: Steven Roy; Jeannine Ellen; Daniel Reese. Years later Janice married Edward Wolf and had 2 more children: Deanna Kay and Douglas Ray.
Janice was the librarian at Minatare Public Library for over 20 years where she implemented the Dewey Decimal catalog system. She encouraged the residents to come find a book to read or to come find books that could help with that school report. She also had many secondary employments: Minatare Head Start Bus Driver; Star Hearld rural paper carrier; owned her own beauty shop and Minatare’s only Laundromat. She also drove school bus for Scottsbluff Public Schools before fully retiring. Then also became a contract worker for Minatare Post Office just to keep busy.
She loved reading books, mainly westerns, working puzzles and watching baseball. She never had a favorite team just the love of a good baseball game. She also loved to dance.
