Jane Rodriguez Hernandez, 90, of Lincoln, formally of Bayard, passed away on October 9, 2023, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jane was surrounded by her daughters. Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Lincoln, NE on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bayard with Fr. Tim Stoner as Celebrant. Cremation will follow services. A family internment will be held at the Bayard Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. with Rosary at 10:30 a.m. on Friday prior to the Mass. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bayard, Nebraska. Jane was born April 19, 1933, in Bayard, Nebraska, to Margarito (Maggie) Rodriguez and Bibiana (Vivian) Varela-Olivarez. Jane received her education in Bayard schools.

Jane worked many jobs during her lifetime, starting at the Sioux Ordinance Depot in Sidney, NE. She also worked at the Bayard Sugar Factory, Midwec, City of Bayard, 1st National Bank; for Dr. Leo Hrnicek, Chimney Rock Villa and Morrill County Hospital. Jane was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bayard.

Jane took great pride in her gardening, canning, tortilla and enchilada making. She provided Bayard High School students with her delicious tacos after many Jr. High dances.

Jane is survived by her daughters Ellen Guerra, Sonia (Steve) Jambor, Odelia Magdanz of Lincoln, Sandra Baudler of Omaha, Rita (Steve) Hoesing of Colleyville, Texas; daughter-in-law Stephanie Hernandez, of Omaha; sisters Ruby Marquez of Gering, Irene Brabo of El Paso, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Jane is proceeded in death by her mother Bibiana; father Maggie; son Rick; son-in-law Jim; sister Pia Muro, and brothers, Joe, John, Frank, Fred, Robin Olivarez, and Bernard Rodriguez; and infant brother Conception; nephews Butch Muro, Paul and Bernard Jr. Rodriguez, nieces Cecelia Olivarez and Sarah Cockrell.
