Iona (Noni) Hizel, 89
February 5, 1934 - June 17, 2023

Our beloved mother Iona (Noni) Hizel passed away on June 17, 2023, at the age of 89 years young. She was a wonderful woman that will be deeply missed. Her funeral service will be Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 10:00 am at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Andy Griess officiating, which she was an active member since 1954. Interment will follow at Creighton Valley Cemetery in Melbeta. Viewing will be held from 5-7pm on Wednesday at Bridgman Funeral Home. It is respectfully requested that memorials in Iona’s honor be made in care of the Zion Evangelical Church Women’s Ministry. Iona was born to Rex and June Wayman on February 5th, 1934. Iona was raised in the Melbeta and Banner County area. August of 1953 Iona began her 46 years of marriage to Victor Hizel. To this union three daughters were born, Vickie, Jerlyn, and Linda. The family grew with the addition of son-in-law Dave Martin, grandchildren Gary (Maria) Pickering, Tonia (Katie) Martin, Katie (Ken) Muller, Vaughn Martin, Fritzie Quindt, Allie Sissons, Alex Quindt, Callan (Sarah) Wayman, Paige (Josh) LaDoux; great-grandchildren Taylor, Aiden and Mason Pickering, Jordan and Makenna Muller, Ben Melton, Braxton LaDoux and Hazel Wayman.

Noni was the S & H Green Stamp Store Manager for 10 years. In 1981 she opened Nonie’s Loving Day Care Home and became Grandma Nonie to many children. She continued working with children at the Scottsbluff Public Schools.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Vic, sisters Alberta Whipple, Ilene Kelly, and Glenda Palmer, and brothers Jack, Tom and Jerry Wayman.

She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Rick (Kathy) Wayman, and special friend Ray Elwood.

Although you are no longer here with us physically, your spirit is ever present in our soul. May your light shine in the glimmer of our eyes for generations to come.
