Herb Meyers, 92, Minatare

Herb Meyers, 92, of Minatare, Nebraska died Saturday, December 3, 2022 at his home.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare with military honors. Visitation will be an hour prior the service. Memorials may be given to the Minatare East Lawn Cemetery. Herb was born on March 23, 1930 west of Minatare, Nebraska to Fred and Amanda Meyers. He was born in the home he called home until his passing.

He was a boy scout in his youth and graduated from Minatare High School in 1949.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955. He attended and graduated from Scottsbluff Junior College.

He worked in Fort Dodge as a sheetrock Factory Inspector. He married Lois Westlake March 24, 1962 and to this union one boy Perry was born.

He was a self-employed carpenter for 30 years. After his son Perry graduated from high school he joined Herb in the carpenter business. After retiring, Herb helped Perry in the farming operation.

Herb liked to have a nice yard. He would say (a yard in an outward appearance of a person’s life). He built several electric wood cars- called them electric woodies. He was on the Irrigation Ditch Board and Cemetery Board.

He adored his granddaughter Corina.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Perry and Jackie and granddaughter Corina all of Minatare.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois and brothers Bob and Ted.
