Gwendolyn “Gwen” Bayerl, 83 years old, of Harrisburg, Nebraska, passed away April 28th, 2023. She was born June 15, 1939 to Walter and Helen Stauffer. She was raised on the farm she loved, in the community she always thought of as home.
Gwen was a wonderful cook and prepared many family meals for family and friends. She passed that gift to her daughters. Her recipes have been passed to her children and grandchildren to keep her memory and love of food alive.
She married her high school sweet heart Duayne Muhr and out of that union had three children. She later married Joe Bayerl on December 24th, 1983. Through this union she was able to travel the United States and visited Germany. They settled in Harrisburg where they had many friends and created new memories. She did not know a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone. She valued her family and always kept in touch with them.
She is preceded in death by her husbands Duayne Muhr and Joseph Bayerl, her parents Walter and Helen Stauffer, and her son Timothy Muhr. She is survived by her brother Jerry Stauffer and his wife Mona, daughters Teri Drake and Tina Rein, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held May 13, 2023 at 2 pm at Chaulk Creek cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Panhandle Humane Society, 126 South Beltline Highway West, Scottsbluff, Nebraska 69361.
