Gust N. Blackos, age 64, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, July 15 of natural causes.
Gust (Gus) was born on March 6, 1959 to Nicholas and Kaliope (Popee) Blackos in Bridgeport, Nebraska. The family moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1961.
After Gus graduated from Scottsbluff Senior High school in 1977 he went on to study at Western Nebraska Community College.
In his earlier years, Gus had a knack for rebuilding and refurbishing cars. His quick wit and sense of humor always lit up a room.
Gus was predeceased by his parents Nick & Popee Blackos of Scottsbluff, NE, Grandparents Gust Blackos of North Platte, NE, Constance Vetes of Portland, ME, and Annastasios & Efrosini Roussou of Athens, Greece. He is survived by brothers Tom Blackos (Scottsbluff), John Blackos and wife Susan (Dallas, TX), Chris Blackos and wife Lujean Berry (Tampa, FL), nephew Nathanial Blackos (Colorado Springs, CO), Aunts Pipina Roussou and Sophia Xanthopoulou (Athens, Greece) as well as many cousins in Nebraska, Kansas, Maine & Athens, Greece.
A memorial viewing will be held at Dugan Kramer Funeral home, 3201 Avenue B, Scottsbluff, NE between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 19. Graveside services will be held at Bayard Cemetery, Bayard, NE on Thursday, July 20 at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Disabled American Veterans Organization (https://www.ihelpveterans.org/) or your favorite charity in Gus’s name.
