Georgina “Gina” Mattley, 78, of Gering, Nebraska passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 12:15 a.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ The King Catholic Church, 1345 18th Street, Gering with Father Mike McDonald officiating. Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9-10 am at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Gina was born October 18, 1945, in Walsenburg, Colorado to Peter and Lucy (Quirico) Berno. She married Larry Henry Kraus on June 15, 1963 and was blessed with four children. In 1980 Gina moved to Scottsbluff with her children and began working with special needs clients.
Gina had a great talent for crafting. She enjoyed traveling to craft fairs to sell her items and loved meeting new people. She was instrumental in organizing and hosting the Gering annual Oregon Trail Days craft fair. One of her favorite pastimes was socializing with others. Gina was also known to play a game or two of Keno in her down time.
Gina was very committed to her faith and was actively involved in her church, Christ the King. She served on many committees, was an active member of the Prayer Tree Ministry as well as the Treasurer of the Ladies Guild and an auxiliary member of The Legion of Mary.
Gina had a very special love for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include: Children, Larry Kraus, Randy Kraus, Tammy Bollman and Gary (Shawna) Kraus. Grandchildren, Logan Kraus, James (Marissa Peterson) Willey, Hunter (Caitlyn) Bollman, Shaylie Kraus, Treysen Kraus and Jaida Kraus. Great Grandchildren, Jozalyn Willey and Layla Bollman. Sister, Janet Sciortino and Nephew, Michael Sciortino.
She was preceded in death by: Daughter in Law, Margaret (Farmer) Kraus; Nephew, Chris Sciortino and Special Friend, George Bowker.
