Elsie Cleays passed away February 19, 2024 at the age of 89. Per her request cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 11am at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff, NE with Pastor Al Wilson officiating. Bridgman Family Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is entrusted with the arrangements.
Elsie was born November 29, 1934, in Scottsbluff, NE to George and Millie Rothenberger. On her birthday, November 29, 1952, she married Ernest “Ernie” Cleays. Together they raised 3 boys, Steve, Rod, and Jim. She lived her entire life in the Panhandle of Nebraska. Elsie loved to play cards, Bingo, and slot machines. She enjoyed watching the Professional Bull Rider’s whenever it was televised. She was also a wonderful cook; you never left a meal hungry.
She is survived by her sons, Rod (Kelly) and Jim; 3 granddaughters Jennifer, Jill and Kyla as well as 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, 1 great-great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Ernie, and son Steve.
