Elnora Sell, 91, of Scottsbluff, passed away on November 17, 2023, at home. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 22, from 9:00 – 10:30 A.M. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 A.M. with PMA Bill Huelle officiating. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, and a reception will follow at Calvary Lutheran Church. Elnora was born on October 14, 1932, to George and Mary (Grentz) Schilling in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1951. On July 15, 1951, she married Wesley Sell in Bayard, Nebraska. Until 1966, she lived in Bayard and worked at the bank. She moved to Scottsbluff in 1966 and worked for Associated Grocers of Nebraska from 1967 to 1982. In January 1984, she went to work for Platte Valley Federal Savings & Loan, which later became First National Bank. In August 1995, she retired from First National Bank.

After retirement, Elnora was a big fan of the Cougar basketball and volleyball teams. Many of the players were welcomed into her home and enjoyed her fabulous cooking. More recently, she was an avid Nebraska volleyball fan. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and served on several boards, and on the Altar Guild for seven years. For 18 years, she was active with the Calvary Lutheran Quilters, which was a mission that she was passionate about.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Kenneth Lee; brother Robert; half-brothers David Keller, Edwin Schilling, Walter Schilling, and Elmer Schilling, and half-sisters Pauline Thiel, Helen Weber, and Lea Hergenrader.

Elnora is survived by her husband Wesley of Scottsbluff; children Cynthia (Bob) Peterson of Lincoln, Susan (Lee) Saip of Parker, CO, and Gregg Sell of Scottsbluff; grandchildren Chris (Mollie) Peterson of Lincoln and Sara (Chad) Schmidt of Omaha; great-grandchildren Connor, Nolan, and Laney Schmidt of Omaha, and Leo, Nora (Elnora’s namesake), and Will Peterson.

Elnora loved her family, including her church family, especially the Calvary Quilters.
