Douglas H. Campbell, 72, of Terrytown, died unexpectedly Friday, July 22, 2022, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the West Lawn Cemetery Pavilion. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and Gering American Legion Post 36 Honor Guard. Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes. Doug was born January 19, 1950, in Highland Park, Michigan to Orian and Genevieve (Page) Campbell.
He enlisted to the United States Marine Corps in 1968. Doug served during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Doug was honorably discharged in 1974.
Doug made a life working as a machinist following his military service. He was employed with Lockwood and later Kurt Manufacturing.
He became a proud father to his only daughter, Heather Nickole, in December 1989. Doug was promoted to Grandpa-status when he was blessed with four granddaughters.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather Campbell; granddaughters, Alivia, Avah, Audrina, and Aniyah; former spouse, Lillian Butts; along with extended relatives and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings.
