It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dorothy Elenora Gallawa on November 2, 2023, at the age of almost 96 years old.

Dorothy was born on November 16, 1927, in Scottsbluff NE, and from that day forward, she touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a remarkable woman, known for her kindness, positivity, wisdom, excellent cooking, entertaining and unwavering love for her family.

Dorothy was a devoted wife to John Gallawa, who preceded her in death in 2013. Together, they shared a love that served as an inspiration to everyone who knew them. They were truly the love of each other’s life—a match made in heaven. In the wake of her passing, we find solace in the knowledge that Dorothy is reunited with her beloved John Gallawa, and their love endures for eternity. She was also a loving mother to two children Michael (Nancy) Gallawa and Susan Vollmar. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her delicious homemade meals.

Dorothy was survived by her brother Ken (Eileen) Gier. She was a doting grandmother to six grandchildren: Michelle Hillard, Andrea Gallawa, Zachary Gallawa, Joshua (Cynthia) Guerue, Melissa Craig and Michael Guerue. Her nine great grandchildren; Madeline Hilliard, Chase Hilliard, Olivia Hilliard, Kiley (Jacob) Delzer, Nathan Craig, Ilycia Guerue, Isaiah Guerue, Joshua Craig, Jackson Craig and Maxwell Gallawa. As well as her two great-great grandchildren; Roman and Ameilia Delzer. There are also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her wisdom and guidance were invaluable, and her warmth made everyone feel safe and cherished.

Dorothy was proceeded in death by her parents; Amelia and John Gier and Pete Conrad. As well as her son in law, Mathew Vollmar.

She was a woman of many talents, interests and accomplishments. Dorothy was very creative and business savvy. She worked at the Star Herald completing ads. She also worked at the phone company and owned an antique store with her sister-in-law Minnie Gallawa. Dorothy and John owned and operated the Capri Motel for 6 years and retired from this endeavor. Together they enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with their family and friends. Her creativity and passion were boundless, The Star Herald paper even did an article on the amazing woman she was. She excelled at so many things and always knew what to do and when to do it. She had the golden touch on most things.

Dorothy was a woman of faith and attended Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff, Ne. for many years. Her faith played a significant role in her life and served as a source of strength and comfort throughout her journey.

Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Dorothy Elenora Gallawa’s funeral will be held at on Wednesday, November 8th at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff, NE at 10am with Jake Roberts officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. There will be a viewing held at Dugan Kramer Chapel in Scottsbluff, Ne on Tuesday, November 7th from 2-4pm.
