Donald Robert Wells August 21, 1936. Passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 23, 2024 from end stage kidney disease. He is the son of Leslie Earl and Nancy Jane (Thompson) Wells. He grew up and attended grade school in Carter Canyon. At age 10 had polio. As a teenager was a member of Carter Canyon 4-H Club, he had Grand Champion pig one year at the County Fair. As a farmer he loved Spring and Summer work on the tractor. HE graduated from Gering High School in 1954, Lab Technician for 40 years at Sugar Factory during Campaign. He married Norma Sallstrom, February 17, 1956, 68 years and two children were born to this union. Teri Lynn and Gregory Scott.
Don was on a men’s bowling league and summer couples league. He collected Antiques meeting a lot of new found friends. He collected Dairy Items, Western artist Charlie Russell was a favorite and collected many items after a trip to Montana to Charlie Russell Museum. His latest collection is of unique child’s chairs. Don and Norma were involved in a pinochle club for many years, then also played dominos for as long as he could
Survived by wife Norma, daughter Teri Lynn, son Greg and Carley (Mason) Wells of Great Bend, Kansas. Two granddaughters Lonie Ann (COlin) Quarton of Parsons, Kansas and Macey Wells of Great Bend, Kansas; one grandson Mason Leslie Wells of Great Bend, Kansas; two great grandsons Theodore Donald Quarton and Leonard Alan Quarton of Parsons, Kansas. Brother Richard and Linnea Wells of Gering and sister Patricia and Bert Morrison of Surprise, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill and sister-in-law Shirley Wells
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 10:30 am at West Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Lyle Hinebauch. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Gering Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
