Donald D. Cordova, age 84, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, who passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Heritage Estates.
The funeral will be on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00am, at Christ the king Catholic Church, Father Mike officiating, burial will be set for later date.
Don was born July 9, 1940, in Denver, Colorado to Louis and Grace (Tharrington) Cordova. Don attended school at Beottcher School for the Handicapped, where he received his G.E.D. From there he started working at Scott Orthopedics where he received on the job training to obtain is Certified Orthotist Certification.
Don loved sports and was able to be part of the Colorado Rolling Cowboys Wheelchair Basketball Team in his early 20’s. He also was part of a wheelchair square dance program.
On July 24, 1965, he married his love Jo Ann Cameron, in Branford, Connecticut, where they lived for one year before moving back to Denver, Colorado. Don became the proud father of their only child Sandy (Cordova) Fertig. Don worked at Scott Orthopedics in Denver. In September, 1973, Don moved the family to Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to run and operate an office for Scott Orthopedics. In the Summer of 1976, Don and Jo Ann purchased the business and changed the name to JoDon Orthopedics, where he retired in 1998.
Don enjoyed watching the Broncos and Rockies games and putting puzzles together. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include wife Jo Ann; sister Grace Payton; brothers Tom Cordova and Ron Cordova; daughter Sandy (Phil) Fertig; grandchildren Taylor Fertig, Mitchell (Jessica) Fertig and Jordan (Radek) Korzeniak; great grandchildren Zachary, Matthew, Christopher, and Airabella.
Don was preceded by his parents and brothers Bob, Louie, Dave and Gene Cordova.
