Dennis L. Parks passed away surrounded by family on August 27, 2022 at his home in Gering at the age of 71. His memorial service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering, at 10:30 AM Thursday, September 1st. Rosary will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Wednesday evening, August 31st at 7 PM.
Dennis was born to Robert L Parks and Rhoda Darlene Morgan (Sargent) in O’Neill Nebraska, February 14, 1951. He graduated from Gering High School in 1969. After high school he joined the United States Navy and did basic training in San Diego only to be honorably discharged after basic due to a medical issue.
After coming home he went to work at HM Brown electric where he worked for 43 years. Dennis was a member of the Moose Lodge for many years where he served as governor. He married Sheryl Vorce in 1971 and two that union two children were born, Amy Kathleen and Jason Leon.
Dennis loved golf, fishing with friends and family, watching Cornhusker and Denver Bronco football and Colorado Rockies baseball. He enjoyed a classic western, hanging & traveling with friends. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
Dennis is survived by his children Amy Dishman (Archie) of Blair, NE and Jason Parks (Stephanie) of Firth, NE; His Sister Linda Hergenrader(Parks) of Mitchell, NE and his Mother, Rhoda Morgan of Gering; his grandchildren, Ethan (McKenna) Parks of Omaha, NE, Derek Dishman of Columbus NE; Madelin Parks of Lincoln, NE , and Delaney Dishman of Blair, NE.
Dennis is preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Parks, his step-mother Carmen Parks, and his life partner Karen Sharp.
