December 23, 1950 - May 27, 2023

Deborah “Debbie” Schwarzkopf, formerly of rural Mitchell, was called home to her Lord on May 27, 2023, with her family by her side.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 10:30 am at the Mitchell City Cemetery with Pastor Joe Petersen officiating.  A memorial has been established to WestWay Christian Church. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Debbie’s honor be made in care of the church. Online condolences may be made by viewing her memorial page at www.bridgmanfuneralhome.com.

Debbie was born on December 23, 1950 in Lewellen, Nebraska to her parents, Mel Pierce and Nancy (Collister) Pierce.  She attended school and graduated from Scottsbluff High in 1969 and went on to earn her nursing degree from Nebraska Western College in 1972.

Debbie married Rodney Schwartzkopf on July 22, 1972, and made their home on the family farm north of Mitchell.  To this union were born two children, Jill and Brian.

Farm life kept Debbie busy delivering meals to the field, running to town for parts, and even driving trucks during harvests.  In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and creating beautiful cross-stitch artwork.  In her later years, one of her most cherished titles would become “Grandma.”

Debbie is survived by her husband of fifty years, Rod; her children, Jill (Ryan) Walker of Scottsbluff, and Brian Schwartzkopf of Mitchell; her grandchildren, Chesney Walker and Caleb Walker; her father, Mel Pierce of Gering; and brother-in-law Larry (Linda) Schwartzkopf of Phoenix, Arizona and stepsister Cyndi Essex.

She was preceded in death by her mother Nancy; her stepmother Shirley Pierce; her brother Roger Pierce; and her mother and father-in-law Jake and Rose Schwartzkopf.
