David Carl Kaufman Jr., 95, of Melbeta, Nebraska, passed away on May 3, 2023 at Regional West Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Schick officiating. Inurnment will be at West Lawn Cemetery. David was born May 25, 1927 on the farm in Melbeta to David Kaufman Sr. and Margaret (Nuss) Kaufman. He received his early education in Creighton Valley, and assisted with work on the farm from a young age. He was awarded Farmer of the Year in 1957, ranking in the top ten for his sugar beets. In 1963, he was awarded Outstanding Young Farmer. He married Dorothy Marie Eisenach on February 17, 1946, and this union was blessed 6 children. Fishing and hunting were some of his favorite hobbies, along with playing volleyball.
Survivors include his children, David (Virginia) Kaufman, Cheryl Cauble, Judith (Marvin) Loyd, Mark (Jill) Kaufman, and Paul Kaufman; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; daughter, Joan; 3 sisters, and 1 half-brother.
