Darlene Griess went home to the Lord on August 21, 2024, at the age of 91. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Harvest Valley Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Curt Holzworth officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Scottsbluff. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7pm at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. It is requested in lieu of any flowers, memorials may be made to the Harvest Valley Church in Darlene’s name. Darlene was born to William and Irene Pierce in Henry, Nebraska. She was the second child of six. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1951. While in high school she met her husband, Waldine Griess, and they were married in 1953. Darlene and Waldine had three children, Melodee, Kevin, and Kandis.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Darlene also enjoyed working with her husband in their business, Quality Builders, Inc. She enjoyed reading, walking, crafting, and traveling. She was actively involved in church activities at Scottsbluff Berean Church and then at Harvest Valley Church. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those around her.
Darlene joins her parents William and Irene; husband Waldine; and brother Jim in Heaven.
She is survived by brothers Bill and Mahlon; sisters Katherine and Connie; children Melodee (John), Kevin (Robbin), and Kandis; grandchildren Justin, Taylor, Jackson, Spencer, and Lexie; and great grandchildren Carmody and Ryker.
