Cynthia Schlenker, 79, of Gering, departed this life to Heaven to be eternally with her Lord and Savior whom she loved and served faithfully on May 24, 2024. Graveside service will be held on June 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Pastor Joe Petersen officiating. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Cynthia’s honor may be made in care of WestWay Church. Cynthia Eileen Schlenker was born February 20, 1945, in Belle Fourche, SD, to Henry and Bertha Herman, the last of four siblings, and grew up on a small farm on the edge of Nisland, SD, 16 miles east of Belle Fourche. She attended Nisland Elementary School and graduated from Newell, SD, High School. She married Larry Schlenker in 1964, and they had three children. They resided in Gering, NE, for many decades.
She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, and her husband, and is survived by her 3 children David Schlenker (Amy) of Gering, Denise LaPoint (Beau) of Denver, CO, Damon of Scottsbluff, NE, brother Ronald Herman (Barbara) of Kennewick, WA, sister Joylene Cox (Donald) of Albuquerque, NM, six grandchildren: Kaleb, Zeth, Paige, Ayden, Nathan, Rachael; nieces and nephews.
