On December 10, 2021, Connie Rae Benker completed a life filled with love, laughter and family.
Connie was born on October 24, 1941 in Sunol, Nebraska to Ray and Florence Evans where she was the youngest of six children. Connie graduated from Big Springs High School in Big Springs, NE in 1960. Connie met Don Benker of rural Julesburg, CO in 1960 after he and a friend saw her with her friends and gave chase. That chase ended when Connie and Don married on March 25th, 1961. Connie grew up around the newspaper business, spending most of her life working in sales for different newspapers in and around Colorado and Nebraska, until finally fulfilling a lifelong dream
of owning and publishing their own newspaper, The Minden Courier, Minden, Ne Connie enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies, including playing horseshoes, painting, doing puzzles, reading, cooking and playing cards. By far and away, her favorite thing to do was spend time with
her daughters, Paula and Pam, her four granddaughters, Sara, Jamie, Vickie and Becky and most especially her 9 great grandchildren, with whom she spent time playing games, sleepovers and making sure that every Easter and Halloween were fun, activity filled days. In her later years, Don and Connie delighted in spending warm winters in South Texas with friends and family. Connie was also an enthusiastic patron of the Active Adults Center in Greeley. As her faith was deeply important to her, Connie was also a devoted member of Our Saviors Lutheran
Church, Greeley.
Connie is survived by husband Donald Benker, Brothers Donald Evans and Paul Evans of Bayard, NE, Daughters Paula Blesi (Mark) and Pam Muller (Mike), Grand Daughters Rebecca Main of Scottsbluff, NE, Sara Travis (Josh) of Highland Village, TX, Jamie Morris (Matt) of Briggsdale, CO and Vickie Marquart (Tim) of Greeley, CO.
She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Tyler, Nolan, Grace, Briane, Austin, Nate, Landry, Callie and Jaxon. Connie Evans Benker service will be held Monday, December 20 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church 1800 21°ᵗ Ave. Greeley, Colorado.
