Caroline Smock, 88, formerly from Scottsbluff, Nebraska died Saturday, September 24, 2022, in Omaha. Caroline was born February 26, 1934 in Scottsbluff to George and Marie (Peil) Drumheller.

Caroline’s formative years were spent in Portland, OR and Weiser, ID. As an adult she returned to Scottsbluff where she met and married Dale Smock on October 16, 1957. They shared a happy union for 61 years, raising two children. As a fulltime homemaker, she assisted with her husband’s well drilling business. She enjoyed bowling and golfing. Through her membership in Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, she participated in numerous philanthropic projects in the Scottsbluff area. She was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She relocated to Omaha in June 2021 to be closer to immediate family.

Her home always operated with an open-door philosophy and became the friendly stopover for family and friends alike.

She was a light to all who knew her… a sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor… her kindness and generosity was always glowing!

Survivors include daughter Stefani Hazlewood (husband Jay); son Stuart Smock (wife Kim); grandchildren Sarah Jones (husband Dillon), Megan Martinez (husband Justin), Chase Hazlewood and Julia Smock; brother Edd (Elizabeth) Drumheller of Thornton, CO; sisters Marleen (Bill) Blanding of Carpentersville, IL, Judy and Trudy Drumheller of Seattle, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

A memorial service is planned for Friday April 14 at 10:00 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. A graveside service will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering.
