Betty Jean Douglas, 80, of Scottsbluff, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Monument Rehabilitation and Care Center in Scottsbluff. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with Pastor Al Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, September 19, 2022, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff. The graveside service will be livestreamed and recorded to Betty’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com. Memorials may be made to the Chuck Wagon Church.

Betty was born October 15, 1941, in Denver, Colorado to Charles and Phyllis (Walters) Henry. She attended school in Brighton, Colorado, Kearney, Nebraska and Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

She married Clifford Douglas June 2, 1957. Four children were born to this union: Terry, Mike, Rick, and Peggy.

Betty devoted most of her to life to being a loving homemaker for her family. She also worked as a nurse’s aide continuing to provide her compassionate care to residents at the local nursing homes.

She liked to attend stock car races and was always up for a chili soup from Runza. She enjoyed watching football and was a Nebraska Huskers and Denver Broncos fan. Betty was the biggest supporter of her kids and grandkids, attending their sporting activities whenever she could. Christmas was her favorite holiday and many special memories were made with her each year throughout the holiday season. She proudly protected her family all her life.

Survivors include her children, Terry (Lily) Douglas of Scottsbluff, Rick (Tina) Douglas of Bayard, and Peggy Douglas of Gering; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; siblings, Charles “Chuck” (Marcia) Henry of Scottsbluff, Larry Henry of Scottsbluff, Anita (Harold) Smith, Judy (Steve) Miller, and Gary (Stephanie) Straatmann all of Kearney, Marcia (Steve) Anderson of Minden, and Kim Roethemeyer of Omaha, Tori Henry, Betsy Krause, and Donna Weideman all of Scottsbluff; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Martin Straatmann; husband, Clifford; son, Mike; siblings, Darold and Harold Henry (infant), Gail Traver, Deborah Straatmann, Delphine Straatmann (infant), and Kristy Schneider.
