Bertha Mowry, 98, of Scottsbluff, NE passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at The Residency in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare at a later date. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in her honor be made in care of the Minatare Fire Dept/Rescue Unit, PO Box 483, Minatare NE 69356. Bertha was born to George and Katherine (Bauer) Gerlock, Sr on April 5, 1925, in Scottsbluff. She received her education in the Scottsbluff schools. She married Wayne Mowry on June 21st, 1947, in Harrison, NE. They made their home in the Nine Mile area. Bertha was active in many clubs, known for her love of animals and proud member of the Red Dale Wagon Train Travel Club since 1965. After Wayne’s passing in 2000, she eventually moved from Minatare to Terrytown and finally to the Residency in 2021.
“Aunt Bert” is survived by nieces Vi Bruner, Karon Rufenacht, Shirley Bostock, Bev Heilbrun, Dianne Kruse, Shirley Toppenberg and nephew Darel Mowry and families. We are thankful that the Residency staff took such wonderful care of her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, four brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
