Alvin LeRoy McLellan, born on March 9, 1939, in Scottsbluff, NE, USA, passed away on October 26, 2023. Alvin, a humble man, spent most of his life in his beloved state of Nebraska.

He moved to the Fairbury and Beatrice area in 1967, where he made a home and built a lifetime of memories. He married Patricia Jinks and to this union two children, Andy and Shawn were born. They later divorced. He met and married his wife, Sondra, on February 4, 1983, and together they shared many happy years. Alvin worked diligently as a surveyor for the US Soil Conservation Office before his well-earned retirement, contributing significantly to his community and his field. Alvin was a man of many passions, including gardening, fishing, camping, and visiting his family in Scottsbluff. He also had a profound interest in history, collecting Indian artifacts which he generously donated to a museum. His commitment to service extended beyond his career, as he honorably served his country in the United States Navy from June 6, 1957, until June 5, 1963. He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Clubs in Beatrice.

Alvin is survived by his devoted wife, Sondra McLellan, his stepchildren Sherry Tyser of Wilber, Nancy (Russ) Schmidt of Jansen, and Rick (Teri) Mangus of Plymouth, his daughter Shawn Garcia of Myrtle Beach, SC, 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and his sister Linda MacKichan of Beatrice, and other extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Pearl McLellan, his son Andy McLellan, and his brother John McLellan Jr. Public visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel, located at 708 North 6th Street, Beatrice, Nebraska. Furthermore, the family will be greeting friends at the same venue from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. A private family graveside service will be held at the Evergreen Home Cemetery on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #27, Legion Riders, and the US Navy. The family will host a public reception starting at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the American Legion Club, 701 Dorsey Street in Beatrice.
