Agnes “Nacha” Rodriguez nee Ramirez, 91, formerly of Gering, passed peacefully at the home of Sally and Mike Miranda at Vista, California surrounded by her children; Sally, Tommy, and Debra on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering with Fr. Mike McDonald as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Her visitation will be held on Monday, February 12 from 4-7pm with a Rosary Service at 6pm at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. She was born in Lakin, Kansas to Jose (Tiburcio Gonzalez) and Concepcion Ramirez on July 31, 1932. The family moved to various towns in Kansas before settling in Scottsbluff, Nebraska as her father was employed by the railroad. She was the 4th oldest of 10 children.
She graduated from Scottsbluff High school. She married and had 4 children, Timmy, Ramon, Debra Margheim (Cale) and Greg. She and her young family moved to Texas and Colorado for a short time but always came home to Nebraska to be near family. She had two more children, Tommy (Dawn) and Sally Miranda (Mike). Nacha worked various jobs throughout her life along with her siblings working as a migrant worker in the “hot” beet fields in the summer months. She also worked in meat packing, Jerry’s Coat Factory, Wendy’s, Ideas Dry Cleaning and finally house cleaning.
Nacha spent the last 4 years living her best life in Southern California attending her beloved Senior Center, going to the beach, and casinos as she loved seeing new things. Nacha enjoyed traveling especially to visit her family and had extended visits with Tommy (Owasso, OK), and Debra (Castle Rock, CO) while her sons Timmy, Ramon and Greg remained in Gering and Scottsbluff, NE. She traveled to Florida where her sister Phyllis Byers resides and Lincoln, NE, often visiting her brother Marty and Isabel Ramirez.
Nacha will be remembered as being a hard worker, a great cook, and a fantastic dancer to Mexican Music. She was proud of her six children and that she raised them as a single parent, but her parents, brothers and sisters were always a positive presence in their lives and are fondly remembered as such. She was admired and appreciated for her giving and kind heart. She has a special way of socializing with others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Concepcion, siblings Frances, Susie, John, Merced, Catherine, Jane, and late husband Bernard Rodriguez, and survived by siblings Mauricio (Marty), Isabel and Phyllis, her children, 14 grandchildren; Jason, Timothy, Vicente, Stevie, Travis, Martina, Madison, JJ, Nicole, Gabrielle, Aurora, Alexis, Mateo and Mikey, special mention to neighbor Ashland Todd as well, and 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful that in her final years in Vista, she was lovingly cared for by Sally, her son-in-law Mike and especially her grandson Mikey.
