Dayle Kenneth Kimbrough, 90, South Bayard

Dayle Kenneth Kimbrough, 90, of South Bayard, passed peacefully at the Mitchell Care Center in Mitchell, Nebraska, May 11, 2024. Cremation has taken place, and he will be interred at Chimney Rock Cemetery. An informal celebration of life will take place at Jimmie Kimbrough home, 942 Avenue A, Bayard, NE, Sunday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m.

Dayle was born November 21, 1933, in Altus, OK to C.M. “Kim” Kimbrough and Maureen Boyce Kimbrough. Dayle lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming, Oregon, and Colorado as a child. His high school years were spent near Briggsdale, CO living with his beloved “Nanny,” his step grandmother. He graduated from Briggsdale High School in 1951. Upon graduation, Dayle enlisted in the Army going to Basic Training in Fort Riley, Kansas. He spent most of his enlistment In Germany as part of a motor pool.

When Dayle left the Army, he moved to Oklahoma to work as a mechanic with his brother, Marvin. Eventually he moved to Sidney, Nebraska where he met his wife, Delores Boyer. They were married in Raton, New Mexico, February 3, 1957. They lived in Wyoming, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and spent 24 years in Denver, Colorado. Dayle worked as a mechanic, car salesman, construction supply sales. After a home fire in 1995, Dayle purchased the South Bayard Station, owning and operating D K Auto for 24 years.

Dayle is survived by his children, Jimmie, Bayard, Belinda DeCrescentis (Dennis), Bayard, and Todd Kimbrough, Milwaukee, two grandchildren Christina DeCrescentis Runyan, Aurora, CO, and Patrick DeCrescentis, Aurora, CO, two great grandchildren (James and Everleigh Runyan). He is also survived by his sister, Sue Harrington (Tom), and Shirley Weideman Boyer, sister-in-law.

Dayle was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delores, his daughter, Wanda Kimbrough, his brother Marvin (Mary), Brother in laws Richard Boyer (Bonnie) and Lloyd, his nephew Chris Kimbrough, his niece Shelly Kimbrough, and his nephew Curtis Boyer.
