Multicultural Youth Leadership Conference

The Multicultural Youth Leadership Conference will be hosting its 23rd annual conference. This conference seeks to promote resiliency, self-appreciation, and vision for the future by offering a variety of workshops and diverse keynote speakers.  This year’s keynote speaker for the high school conference is Hollywood actor, filmmaker, and immigrant rights advocate, Bambadjan Bamba. Bambadjan Bamba has worked in prominent roles on numerous hit television shows like “The Good Place,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and in blockbuster films like “Black Panther,” and “Suicide Squad.” He was recently featured in Will Smith’s AMEND: The Fight for America on Netflix. In 2017 Bambadjan publicly disclosed that he was a recipient of the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA). Ever since, Bambadjan has become a voice for DREAMers and a leader in the immigrant rights movement. Advocating for DACA recipients, black immigrants, and immigrants working in the entertainment industry. He gives talks at college campuses, events, and media outlets around the country.  The junior high conference keynote, joining us from Grand Island, Nebraska is nationally known youth motivational speaker, Juan Cangas. Juan had to find his own motivation to succeed as a young Latino teen wrestling with the challenges of life. His drive to overcome barriers and desire to make his mother proud helped him become the first person in his family to attend college. Juan is an authority in youth leadership development, with over 6 years of experience inspiring students from all walks of life.

This year’s conference will take place on Wednesday, September 29th (High School) and Thursday, September 30th (Junior High) at the Harms Center. The community event will take place Wednesday, September 29th from 6-8:30 PM at Hotel 21 Conference Room with a FREE dinner provided before Bambdjan Bamba’s address.
