On Tuesday afternoon and evening the WESTCO Zephyrs dropped a pair of home games at Cleveland Field to North Platte by the finals of 7-3 and 2-0.

In game one for WESTCO it was starting pitcher Oscar Felix tossing six innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out nine with just one walk allowed (he did hit three batters).

At the plate Ryan Hinman finished a pair of hits including a two run double in the bottom of the sixth inning that tied the game 3-3.

North Platte would get to the Z’s bullpen in the seventh, though, scoring four runs off a pair of relievers.

The second game featured just two hits for the Zephyrs off North Platte starting pitcher Easton Geisler, who tossed a complete game shutout on just 85 pitches.

So a total of just six hits for WESTCO in the 14 innings played during the doubleheader.

Zephyrs starter Carter Reisig was up to the task in game two, he pitched five innings and was limited to just 71 pitches. Reisig struck out four, walked none, and allowed no earned runs.

North Platte scored once in the third and then got a solo homer from Easton Jones in the sixth inning.

The Zephyrs are now 9-14 and they’ll head east for games Friday at Blair and Sunday at Grand Island.

Gering legion ball

Gering also heads east this week with Jr/Sr games at Broken Bow on Thursday, at Aurora on Friday, before games Saturday at Nebraska City.
