An emergency lookout issued this morning for a wanted subject in a rural area of Scotts Bluff County has been cancelled.

The incident began when the Scottsbluff Police Department took an auto theft report this morning shortly before 7 a.m.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., a Scotts Bluff County Deputy spotted the vehicle on Highway 26.  A pursuit ensued, with the lone male occupant eventually abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

Officers from multiple agencies searched the area, and eventually a citizen spotted the individual running.

Cresencio Castillo, male, age 25, of Gering was taken into custody by Deputies without incident.

He’s held on numerous charges, including possession of stolen property, flight to avoid arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and willful reckless driving. An initial appearance is expected Wednesday in Scotts Bluff County Court.

Agencies involved include the Sheriff’s Office, Scottsbluff Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Minatare/Melbeta Fire Department, and Regional West Ambulance Service.
