A large Brighton, Colorado-based automotive company is assuming the Ford dealership in Scottsbluff.

According to documents being presented to the Scottsbluff Planning Commission this week, Transwest Inc. is seeking a conditional use permit for the property located at 1515 E. 20th Street, which has been the home of Fremont Motors.

The application says under Fremont, the dealership was a legal non-conforming use after the zoning for the property had been changed in the 1990s from C-3 to C-2, where a special use permit is required.

If the permit is ultimately approved by the City Council, Transwest would continue the sales, service and retail operations of the current Ford dealership.

The application also says a Transwest-related company, GEP Investments, Inc., is the new property owner, however, the sales price is unknown at this time, as documents detailing a property transfer from Fremont Real Estate Scottsbluff, LLC, were not immediately available from the county Register of Deeds office.

The Planning Commission takes up the special use permit application during their meeting Monday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. at Scottsbluff City Hall.
