A 24-year-old Scottsbluff woman is facing several drug charges following a weekend traffic stop of an SUV with no taillights.

Marissa Sifuentes was scheduled to make her initial appearance Monday in Scotts Bluff County Court on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, 10 to 27 grams, misdemeanor possession of marijuana more than an ounce but less than a pound, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to court records, Gering Police stopped a Jeep Grand Cherokee Sifuentes was riding in shortly after midnight Saturday, and the officer conducted a search after detecting the odor of fresh marijuana, finding a backpack on the driver-side rear floor board.

Inside, officers say they found a baggie weighing 22.3 grams with what tested positive for methamphetamine, and two zip-lock bags with marijuana, weighing 5.8 ounces, along with hair products including a brush with long black hair.

Sifuentes initially said the backpack belonged to a male she met with earlier Friday evening while driving the rental, then claimed she and her mother went to the home of the other male who was driving during the stop, and smoked meth after he left. The male driver confirmed the pair arrived at his home, but she supplied meth that they smoked and snorted.

After she was taken to the Detention Center, Sifuentes stated she rarely uses the drug, saw an opportunity that night and got “money hungry”.
