The Torrington Trailblazers defeated Big Horn 28-26 on Friday afternoon at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie to win the Wyoming 2A State Championship.

Torrington running back Kaiden Riggs finished with three touchdowns on the day and over 200 yards of total offense.

Torrington had a huge fourth quarter drive that covered 13 plays and 78 yards and was capped off by a three yard touchdown run from Riggs that gave the Trailblazers a 28-19 lead.

Big Horn then scored in less than a minute to make it a one point deficit but after recovering an onside kick the Torrington offense was able to pick up a first down and run out the clock to clinch the victory.

The title game win for Torrington avenged a regular season loss at home to Big Horn.

For Torrington it’s their first state title on the gridiron since taking home the trophy back in 1990.
