Rider injured in bicycle vs pickup collision

A 22-year-old Scottsbluff woman was injured when she rode her bicycle into the side of a moving pickup Friday

According to a Scottsbluff Police release, just after 3 p.m. officers were notified of what was described as a vehicle versus bicycle crash with injuries at the intersection of 5th Ave and East 26th Street.

Sergeant Philip Eckerberg says the investigation found a 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup driven by 58-year-old Juan Gonzales Juarez of Scottsbluff was south bound on 5th Ave while a bicycle ridden by Samantha White Hawk was west bound on East 26th St crossing 5th Avenue and ran into the driver’s side of the pickup.

White Hawk was transported from the scene by Regional West Ambulance, and was issued a citation for failure to stop for a stop sign.

Scottsbluff Police were assisted by Scottsbluff Fire Department, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, and Regional West ambulance.
