Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen continued to discuss the need for property tax relief during his radio call-in program Monday afternoon.

Pillen says plans for a special session will likely fall into place in the weeks ahead.

“It’s only been a month since the session has taken place, so everybody needed a bit of a break. I would imagine after Memorial Day weekend more things will pop up and more conversations getting everybody’s ideas,” said Pillen. “We’re working hard to make sure that local Senators can be present, and those will help in the whole conversation.”

The governor has been holding a series of property tax relief town halls to push the issue and generate support for a special session.

At one of the events Friday in Grand Island, Pillen said he believes he has enough state senators favoring the idea to make that call.
