We had a pair of legion baseball broadcasts Tuesday night across our stations with Gering hosting Sidney on KMOR 93.3 FM and WESTCO visiting Alliance on 107.3 The Trail.

In Gering it took extra innings but Platte Valley Companies able to rally multiple times to win it over Sidney 7-6 in eight innings.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and nobody on Gering got a man aboard on a hit by pitch and Bo Gable was able to eventually come around to score from third base on a wild pitch to force extra innings.

Sidney plated a pair in the top of the eighth to go in front 6-4.

In the bottom of the inning Gering started walk, hit by pitch, walk and then Tanner Gartner walked it off with a three run triple to win the game for Gering.

Gartner finished with two hits and the three RBI and Jackson Howard also had a multi-hit game with a RBI.

Isaiah Murillo earned the win in relief throwing two innings and allowing two earned runs. Gartner started and went six innings striking out four and allowing three earned runs.

With the win the Gering seniors improved to 10-4 on the year.

The juniors game for B&C Steel finished in a 3-3 tie.

Zephyrs fall at Alliance

The WESTCO Zephyrs lost at Bower Shankland Field to the Alliance Spartans on Tuesday night, 8-0.

Alliance scored two runs in the third inning, one on a wild pitch and another on ground ball fielding errors by the Z’s.

Meanwhile, Alliance starting pitcher Braeden Clarke was efficient tossing five clean innings and throwing only 53 pitches on the night allowing just five hits.

It was still just a 2-0 game in the bottom of the fifth but Alliance scored six runs to end it via the run rule. WESTCO pitchers issued five walks in the inning while Alliance managed four hits. The game ending run scored on a bases loaded walk by Adan Vargas to EJ Garcia.

WESTCO starting pitcher Mical Villagrana pitched better than the stat line would indicate, going a season high 4 1/3 innings, he struck out one and allowed six earned runs.

Oscar Felix and Jahrell Mendez had two hit games in the loss for the Zephyrs.

The juniors game with the Express and the Spartans finished in a 3-3 tie.

Tonight it’s a WESTCO at Gering Jr/Sr doubleheader starting at 5 pm. We’ll have coverage of the Zephyrs vs. Platte Valley Companies on KMOR 93.3 FM and KMORfm.com starting anywhere from 6:45 to 7 pm.
