The Ag and Natural Resource Career Pathway at Gering High School officially has a new addition.

On Monday, students and staff were joined by district board members, administrators and Chamber of Commerce representatives to cut the ribbon on the new greenhouse at the school.

Superintendent Dr. Nicole Regan called it a proud moment for the school, district and community. “This is something that’s exciting not just for families and adults but for the students, and the opportunities they get to have now in an extended classroom,” said Regan. “And I just loved seeing the families, the parents, the community and the businesses that put in an investment and say this is important, and joined us for the celebration.”

Regan says the greenhouse is a significant milestone in the schools commitment to environmental education, and will provide a year-round classroom.

21st Century Equipment, Healthy Blue Nebraska and Platte Valley Companies were among the supporters making major gifts to the effort.
