One of the best champions from the area in recent memory has found a landing spot for her college career.

Gering senior Madison Seiler signed yesterday to continue her track & field and cross country career at the division-one level at Kennesaw State in Georgia.

“I’m super excited. It’s definitely something I’ve always dreamed of doing. I didn’t know if I wanted to go division one, I wasn’t really sure, but after my sophomore year when I really started to really love it, I was like wow I think this is what I want to do.”

Seiler is one of the most decorated athletes to come through the valley in a while.

Seiler is a three time individual state champion in cross country and she was named a Super State selection in cross country four times, while also being a two event medalist in track field in two separate seasons.

Seiler says running for Gering under the direction of head coach Rick Marez was big for her development.

“It’s going to be my last track season with him and I’m super excited to be with a new coach who reminds me so much of him, and that was definitely was a big factor in picking (Kennesaw), because he’s been more than a coach, he’s been a big inspiration in my life.”

Seiler hasn’t fully decided on a major but is leaning towards focusing her studies in the medical field.
