The application period is now open for the very first round of grants the City of Gering will be making with funds generated by the city’s hotel occupancy tax.

The grants can be used by City departments, City facilities and non-profit entities and organizations producing annual events and activities, with a priority to those that increase overnight stays and tourism revenues for the community.

Major grants defined as $10,001 or more will be considered in March and August, with minor grants of lesser amounts to be considered in May and November.

Requests for the first 2024 funding cycle must be submitted by March 11 in writing with the official application to the Gering Visitor’s Bureau,.

Following a review of the applications and meeting with applicants, the Occupation Tax Grant Program Application Review Committee will make a recommendation to the Gering City Council for a final decision.
