Court documents filed this afternoon in Scotts Bluff County provide more details on the events leading up to a fatal shooting Saturday night.
On Monday, 19-year-old Anibal “Junior” Domingo Jr. was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony in the shooting death of 22-year-old Wilson Coleman III.
The arrest affidavit states that Domingo had been causing trouble with a group of Coleman’s friends while at Cigarette Chain on East Overland. Afterwards, the friends left to pick up Coleman, and Coleman stopped a home to pick up a 9 mm handgun.
The group drove around and found Domingo’s pickup at the parking lot of the Rebecca Winter’s Apartment complex. Coleman went to the pickup and confronted Domingo about causing problems earlier.
Domingo admitted to causing problems, and Coleman then pulled out the 9 mm handgun, pointed it at Domingo, and then fired a shot in the air. Domingo then responded that he too had a gun, and witnesses say he reached down to the pickups floorboard.
Coleman and his friends proceeded to run away, but as they retreated to their vehicle, Coleman screamed he was hit, and his friends observed a wound to his chest.
Coleman’s friends dropped him off at Regional West, then left and tossed the 9 mm handgun out of the car while driving near the Riverside Zoo.
During the police investigation, residents at Rebecca Winters did confirm that they had heard two separate gun shot wounds.
Domingo Jr. spoke with police on Sunday, and said that he had been drinking the night before, but denied possessing a gun or shooting anybody.
He was arraigned on the felony charges Monday afternoon in Scotts Bluff County Court. Bond in the case has been set at $2,500,000 with a 10 percent provision. The case is continued until December 1st for the preliminary hearing.
