Maria was born October 16, 1925, in Scottsbluff to Serapio and Amalia (Puentes) Lozoya. She lived her entire life in the Scottsbluff-Mitchell valley area. She received her early education at various country schools. She began raising her siblings when their father died. Maria dedicated her life to caring for not only her siblings, but also her siblings’ kids, and then their kids’ kids, sharing and giving unending love to everyone.

Her love and very religious beliefs were shared with three generations of her family. Maria was always a firm believer that there is good in everyone, you just have to open your eyes to see it.

She enjoyed spending her spare time coloring with acrylics and painting flower pictures. She also liked to sew, and many of her family members wore clothes that she made, including a lot of pretty cool shirts, and blouses for the girls. Surprisingly, she loved to watch various sports, baseball and football being her favorites. Maria liked watching old Western movies, especially Gunsmoke and Magnificent 7.

Maria will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The love she shared with all who touched her life will last forever.

Survivors include her sisters, Martina, Edwarda and Abundia; along with many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Serapio and Amalia Lozoya; brothers, Mauricio, Fermin, Baby Fermin, Santos, Anselmo, and Frank; and sisters, Lucy, Sophia, Cecila, and Baby Louisa.
