USDA recently suspended avocado and mango inspections in Michoacan after two employees were assaulted and detained in the state.
The USDA employees were inspecting avocados when the incident occurred but have since been released, according to ABC News.
Inspections in other Mexican states are not affected officials said but Michoacan is the country’s largest exporter of avocados.
In a statement Tuesday, Mexico’s Producers and Packers Association said they were working closely with Mexican and United States government officials to resume avocado exports from Michoacan.
