South Loup boys, Sandhills/Thedford girls win MNAC track titles

ARNOLD – The South Loup boys and Sandhills/Thedford girls claimed the team titles Thursday at the MNAC Track and Field Meet.

South Loup topped the boys standings by a wide margin with Mullen second and Twin Loup third.

The Bobcats were led by event wins for Logan Recoy in the 800, Rio Remund in shot put and Ethan Furne in long jump. Other top performers for South Loup included Remund taking second in discus, Dawson Mason second in pole vault, Caleb McFate second in the 300m hurdles and Josiah Coleman second in the 3200.

Mullen was led by Kyle Finney winning both the 1600 and 3200 while Chase Gracey was first in both the 110m and 300m hurdles and the relay team won the 4×400. Alex Werner finished third in the 100, 200 and 400 and in the field Tate Kvanvig placed third in shot put and fourth in discus.

Quincy Ryker paced Twin Loup by finishing first in the 100, 200 and pole vault with Justin Folkers winning the high jump and the relay team first in the 4×100.

Sandhills/Thedford’s Coby Higgins was first in the triple jump and second in the 110m hurdles. Brady Dahlberg took first in discus and fourth in shot put.

Anselmo-Merna was led by Caenyn Priest finishing second in the triple jump and third in the 110m hurdles.

The girls team title came down to the final race with Sandhills/Thedford taking second in the 4×400 relay to finish with 100 points to Mullen’s 96.

Sandhills/Thedford got first from Dayle Haake in the 200, Jaylen Dimmitt in shot put, Arena Fetty in discus and the 4×100 relay team. Kallan Cox placed second in both the 100 and the long jump.

The Broncos were powered by Peyton Paxton winning both the 1600 and 3200, Harper Andersen was first in the 800 and second in the 400, Ella Rice won the long jump and the relay team was first in the 4×800.

South Loup’s top showings were first for the 4×400 relay, Bryn Schwarz in the pole vault and Jade Bierman in the high jump with Asa Starr second. Bierman was second in the 800 and Ella Cool was second in both the 1600 and 3200.

Shayleigh Coleman led Anselmo-Merna by placing second in the 100m and 300m hurdles and fifth in the 100. Makenna Miller was third in pole vault and the 100m hurdles with Lily Thornton finishing second in discus.

Twin Loup was led by MaKayla Stecker taking second in the 200 and third in the 100. LoReena Schauda was third in both the 800 and 1600.
