ANSELMO – Community leaders gathered Wednesday in Anselmo to celebrate the completion of improvements to the village’s library.

Construction began last November and included renovated handicap-accessible bathrooms, a new handicap-accessible entrance and additional space for a new kitchen, which the village will put finishing touches on in the coming weeks. The work also included electrical upgrades.

The project was funded by Community Development Block Grant for a total of $442,330.

The library serves as a community space to host a variety of events such as funerals, pot lucks and private parties. Amber Ross of Central Nebraska Economic Development District spoke about the importance of such spaces.

Anselmo Village Chairman Tanyor Gilligan said the improvements will allow the library to host larger events and attract more visitors.
