HARTINGTON – The Ord Junior Legion baseball team was eliminated from the state tournament on Sunday.

Ord struggled offensively, dropping Saturday’s opening round game to Malcolm 8-0.

Malcolm’s pitching stifled Ord, which managed just one hit and two walks in the game.

Sunday’s game was an extra inning nail biter as host Hartington eliminated Ord 3-2 in eight innings.

After three scoreless innings, Hartington was able to push a run across in the fourth inning.

Ord took its first lead of the tournament in the top of the fifth with an RBI single by Colton Thompson and a bases loaded walk by Austin Stethem. Thompson also pitched well, striking out 12 in 5.2 innings.

Hartington tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, and both teams put up zeroes in the sixth and seventh. Hartington was able to drive home the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to win and stay alive in the double elimination tournament.
