More info released on fatality accident near Elm Creek

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office released more information Monday on a two-vehicle fatality accident around 2:13pm Friday on Highway 30 about two miles east of Elm Creek. According to the preliminary investigation, a westbound sedan crossed the center line to avoid an uninvolved vehicle that was stopped, waiting to turn south on Cessna Road. The sedan struck an eastbound pickup head-on with both vehicles coming to rest in the south ditch.

Chief Deputy Daniel Schleusner reports the driver and lone occupant of the sedan, 38-year-old Nuur Hssan Barre of Lexington, was declared deceased at the scene. The pickup driver, 61-year-old Daniel Loeffelholz of Kearney, was treated and released on scene. The passenger in the pickup was transported for minor injuries. The investigation continues and and an autopsy has been scheduled.

The BCSO was assisted by the Kearney Police Department / Buffalo County Fatal Accident Investigation Team, Elm Creek Fire and Rescue, CHI Good Samaritan paramedics, Buffalo County Attorney’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Department of Transportation.
