I-phone crash indication leads deputies to plane crash

An I-phone crash indication lead Dawson County Sheriff’s Office deputies to the location of a plane crash in eastern Dawson County. Sheriff Mark Montgomery says, around 4:11pm Wednesday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office comunications center received an I-phone crash indication at Road 76150 & 444.

As deputies arrived they observed a crop duster plane had hit the power lines and crashed. The pilot, Christian M. Timm, 23, of Eustis was at the scene. Overton Fire and Rescue transported Mr. Timm to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Mr. Timm was applying chemical to a field for Johnson Lake Flying Service at the time of the crash. Mr. Timm’s landing gear struck an electrical wire pulling him down. The plane is a total loss.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Overton Fire and Rescue, Nebraska Public Power District, Dawson Public Power District and Lexington Airport.
