Hamilton County — A Grand Island woman died in a single-vehicle crash in rural Hamilton County. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office received notification Thursday through several 9-1-1 calls that the crash happened on Highway 34 between Y and Z roads.

Deputies say an eastbound 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee left Highway 34, entered the north ditch and rolled several times, eventually striking a grain bin.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Hannah Petersen, 39, of Grand Island, was ejected from the vehicle. Petersen was transported to York General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, Hampton Fire Department and Aurora Fire Department.
