MASON CITY – A Mason City family is cleaning up after an early morning fire destroyed their garage.

Chelsie and Jon Campbell were awoken by their neighbors around 12:20 a.m. on Friday, July 5, after their Ford Transit van caught fire. The blaze spread to the garage, which was engulfed in flames.

Crews worked for several hours and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the house. No one was injured.

The garage, built in the early 1900s, was more than 100 years old and once served as the town’s livery stable.

Chelsie’s employer, Kinkaider Brewing, has established a GoFundMe to help the family rebuild the garage and replace their vehicle and other items that were destroyed. Donations can be made by clicking this link.
