LOUP CITY – Crews spent Wednesday afternoon battling a grass fire west of Loup City.

The Sherman County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was located about nine miles west of Loup City and north of Highway 92 near 467th Avenue and moving north. Some evacuations were requested for farmland in the path of the fire.

Loup City Fire Department requested mutual aid from several surrounding departments, including Arcadia, Ravenna, Litchfield, Ansley, Sargent, Mason City and Broken Bow. Air support was provided by two aircraft out of Broken Bow and Kearney.

This is a developing story. More details will be shared as they become available.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect through Thursday evening with high fire risk due to gusty winds and dry conditions.
